Position: Freshwater Ecology Scientist
Qualification: BSc (hons) Zoology

Freshwater fish ecology
Field survey implementation
Freshwater invertebrate identification

With a huge passion for freshwater ecology and a desire to embrace the big outdoors, Siobhán took the momentous step to leave Ireland behind and throw herself into life in New Zealand.

Bringing with her knowledge gained during her thesis on fecundity in freshwater fish plus hands-on experience in fish surveys and identification, Siobhán is delighted to be part of the EOS team. “I love that I get to work outdoors and see interesting NZ fish and invertebrates that are so different to the native fauna I’m used to in Ireland. It is also fascinating to see the incredible work that EOS Ecology is doing to enhance the whitebait spawning habitat - it feels great to be part of such a motivated group of ecologists who truly want to make a difference in the environment.”

Making the most of New Zealand’s outdoor lifestyle, when she’s not at work Siobhán can be found running in the parks of Christchurch and up the Port Hills as she trains for a half-marathon in Queenstown. “I’ve also decided that my next new challenges will make the most of having the Port Hills on my doorstep – taking up both mountain biking and rock climbing!”
